Finally getting a chance to blog here at the library in Harrisonburg, LA. I had left my wallet at a friend's house the night before the hurricane and was on a hunt around New Orleans trying to find it before I could leave. One person would give it to someone else who thought he/she was going to stay, and then that person would decide to leave and give it to someone else, etc... Anyway, I finally caught up with my wallet Sunday night as the storm was showing it's first real signs. I couldn't decide whether to take my car and save it from the storm or my brother's much more expensive car. I decided on saving my brother's car, so now I have no idea whether my car even exist anymore. I don't know anything about my home, but it's a rental and I didn't own much of anything anyway, so it's really not that important. I still have a job and will probably go back to work this Friday or next Monday. All in all, I feel pretty lucky. Thank you to all who tried to contact me and to those who offered me a place to stay. I never could reach anyone on my phone, so this is the first chance I have to say thank you for all the phone messages.
Some notes on the storm:
- Cable went out two days before the storm hit in all my friends houses around New Orleans and never came back. Thank you Cox. (Fucking jerks)
- New Orleans will back on its feet very soon. Please help rebuild it by taking your vacations there.
- I haven't had a cigarette or drink of alcohol, or moment alone since the storm. (Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
- I'm staying at a family camp on a Northern Louisiana Bayou. I love seeing family again,(All of us refugees)but unlike the rest of these refugees I don't feel the need to constantly do chores in order to keep my sanity. I conveniently jumped off the roof instead of using the ladder whilst doing a chore and am now out of commission with a hurt ankle. I believe they are getting suspicious, though.
- I believe the finger should be pointed at Bush (if there is a finger to be pointed) He drained all of our money that was suppose to go to prevention of this very well studied New Orleans scenario, for the Iraq War. Thank you Bush. (fucking jerk)
That's all for now, other refugees waiting to use the computer.
