The Nature article linked to the picture has an exhibit on Indonesian traveler's tales.

I like thinking of the encounter between Homo sapiens and Homo floresiensis, so I quoted an excerpt of a Scottish paper below.

Mythical tales abound in the region of a race of little people that dwell on the islands of Indonesia.

Dutch explorers who colonised Flores 100 years ago were told colourful stories of a human-like creature local inhabitants called "ebu gogo".

Like the hominid, whose skeletal remains have excited scientists around the world, they stood about 3ft tall.

The tales described how they could be heard "murmuring" to one another, and how, parrot-fashion, they repeated back words spoken to them.

This picture of Titan was taken on October 24th. Data comes back at 100 times closer than this picture sometime tonight.

Movies in production that I would like to see:

1. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

2. Confederacy of Dunces

3. Star Wars III - Revenge of the Sith

4. The Ring 2

5. The Da Vinci Code

6. Indiana Jones 4

7. Logan's Run ...more for nostalgia than anything else.

8. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

as a side note: Will Ferrell is doing a couple movies that made me chuckle beyond Confederacy of Dunces:
a. Curious George
b. Joan of Bark: The Dog Who Saved France

It's kinda fun trying to juggle the numbers on this site.

My strangest prediction is that every state votes exactly how it did in the 2000 election except that Nevada and New Hampshire change to Democrat. That would make a perfect tie at 269 each.

Also if everything stayed the same as 2000 and just Louisiana went democrat, then it would be the same 269/269 tie.

My real prediction though is that everything stays the same as 2000 except that Nevada and Ohio go Kerry. That would make it Kerry 285 - Bush 253

Just a few notes:

1. I may be in Indy this weekend or next. Still unsure.

2. Got a chance to speak with Hank Loves, (aka Chris Hill) but alas I was at work and felt pressured to rush his call. Good to hear from you again Chris, I'll talk to you some other drunken night again soon, I'm sure.

3. I've been reading on the net about all the various houses that are haunted right around where I live. I'm going to start taking walks to check them out. (sort of a Halloween thing to do)

4. I keep hearing the name "Aung San Suu Kyi" everywhere. You have probably all heard much about her and I am only just catching on. Nobel Peace Prize winner locked up in Myarmar and not heard from at all for a little while. Alot of cool aging rock n' rollers have put together an album in protest.

5. Well, my candidate didn't win Criminal Sheriff of Orleans Parish, but there will be a run off between the two other candidates. I have no idea if I will have a better chance of keeping my job with either candidate, and I actually haven't fully decided on one or the other.

6. Still no sleep for Benjamin. I'm just used to it now.

7. I have cable T.V. in my new office, but I can't watch it because it just doesn't seem right. I'll probably give it to someone else, just so I don't think about it anymore. My office is an old holding cell, but it's all mine.

8. I'm always late on these things, but I posted my friend Deirdra Funcheon's story on Cuba a long time ago, so now I find a National Geographic article. Actually as I look around Google there are tons of articles by her, so I'll just wrap it up by saying, "So you think you're hot shit or something!" "NOBODY CARES!!!" ... just kidding. Congrats on what looks like a cool career.

9. I really think I should make 10 notes, but I think I'll just give up here with a faux nine.
