Thus begins the slow graying of the line between domestic crimes and acts of terrorism.

Will the Patriot Act apply to these types of crimes in the future? Will the accused be allowed representation? Even though the Supreme Court betrayed America before by choosing our President, I still have faith that it would step up to the plate if these issues were brought to them and do the right thing.

And people have the nerve to look back to the Jim Crow days & McCarthyism & wonder 'what was that all about?'. We're living in those days all over again, gone are the days of proven innocent until found guilty, now it's assumed guilty until found guilty, or assumed guilty until FBI surveillance waits until you commit any type of crime & found guilty.

And guess what? My wife & I are on the list of possible terrorists. Shortly after 9/11 we drove through the Emory University campus until we found a striking new building. So pulled off the road into the parking lot to take a look at it. After a few seconds we drove off only to be pulled over by security. It happened that it was the CDC we were looking at it & the officer wanted to know why we were looking at it. He took down our names & suggested we not leave the country.

Ever since then we have always been chosen to be searched at the airport. That isn't a huge inconvinience, but it's clearly a case of the FBI assuming we're guilty of something - but not sure of what.

This article tells of a man from my hometown whose life ended because of the Patriot Act:
